LOCAL GUIDE
Beavers Bend for couples
Hikes, river views, and slow days in the Oklahoma pines.
Beavers Bend State Park is about 10 minutes from The Wild Haven. It's where the pines meet the Mountain Fork River, and it's the heart of any Hochatown getaway. Here's how to spend a day there, just the two of you.
HIKE TOGETHER
Trails worth the walk
The David Boren Trail links short trails you can mix and match. Cedar Bluff Nature Trail is an easy 1-mile walk. Lookout Mountain is a 1.5-mile climb with a view at the top. Want a real workout? Skyline runs 5 miles with creek crossings and steep hills. Wear good shoes and bring water.
ON THE RIVER
Slow down by the water
The Mountain Fork River winds right through the park, and River Bend is a favorite spot to sit by the water. Rent a canoe or kayak, or try fly fishing, since trout are stocked year-round. Broken Bow Lake sits just upstream with clear water and miles of shoreline.
SLOW DAY
Easy ways to explore
The Forest Heritage Center is a quiet stop with art and history from the Oklahoma pines, including painted scenes by the artist who created Smokey Bear. From November to February, watch for bald eagles near the lake. Pack a picnic and make an afternoon of it.
PLAN YOUR STAY
Spend the day in Beavers Bend, then head back to The Wild Haven for the sauna, cold plunge, and hot tub under the pines. Adults-only, dog-friendly, and made for two.
